Places to visit in New York during Holidays

One place you definitely want to be during holidays is New York. It's undoubtedly the most wonderful time of the year! Each and every street you walk by will be showering you with Christmas and holiday vibes. This year I decided to make the most of my time and visit all the spectacular places in New York. I spent an entire week, specially to enjoy this Holiday season in New York style. Here are some of the most beautiful places, most of which won't even cost you a penny, you should definitely consider visiting!

Dyker Heights Christmas Lights

This neighborhood in Brooklyn is literally LIT with the most luminous lights and decorations! The owners decorate their beautiful houses during the weekend post Thanksgiving. The best display of lights and decorations can be witnessed between 11th Avenue to 13th Avenue from 83rd to 86th street in Dyker Heights.

People crowd these streets to see the most spectacular decorations with more than a thousand lights. This display can be seen anytime between dawn and 9pm everyday post Thanksgiving, until New Years Eve. With so many dazzling decorations, it is really difficult to pick a favorite!

Rockefeller Center

Location : Rockefeller Center

Rockefeller Center has always been a huge attraction for the tourists. The Christmas Tree lighting ceremony of the Rockefeller Center took place on November 28th this year with a grand celebration and performances. It has been an addition to the New York tradition since 1993. The Tree will be lit and visible until January 7th, 2019, 9pm. The rink at Rockefeller is crowded with hundreds of visitors skating in the rink and also hundreds of spectators who travel to witness the swirling of skaters with the incredible dazzlings backdrop. You might even get to witness proposals at center of the rink!

Lotte Palace Christmas Tree

Location : Lotte Palace

This is one hidden gem! I didn't know about this place until I found out recently. This Palace has been an attraction to the tourists but this Christmas Tree is literally the most beautiful Christmas tree I have ever seen! This place is just a block away from the Rockefeller Center and St. Patrick's Cathedral.

The tree is around 30-feet tall that glows from the courtyard, and a magical lobby full of elegantly festive decorations. The Palace even has a "Santa Mail" box where children can drop in their letters and wish lists off to Santa.

Brookfield Place Luminaries

Location : Brookfield Place

Luminaries are installed at Brookfield Place every year during the holiday season. Glowing lanterns are suspended within the Winter Garden at Brookfield Place and keep changing colors and intensity. Every 30 mins, the lights dance to the sound of Christmas carols. Visitors can also enjoy free ice skating and meet Santa.

You can take a virtual tour of the Luminaries at Brookfield Place here

Saks Fifth Avenue Lights display

Location : Saks Fifth Avenue

Saks Fifth Avenue is famous for its extravagant window and light displays. This year the window display was themed 'The Theatre Dreams'. The light display is on every 10 mins for about 4-5 mins and hundreds of people crowd around in the evenings to watch it.

Believe - Macy's building

Location : Macy's

'Believe - Make-a-wish' campaign was started by Macy's last year and it has really inspired its customers and community to contribute and make a difference! I love this sign on the Macy's building at Herald Square. After all it's only when you Believe in something, will it come true! This is a beautiful spot to take some dreamy pictures.

St Patrick's Cathedral

This isn't one of the typical places but it made it to the list because of its beautiful architecture and its holiday vibe. I am personally very fond of churches. Every Christmas Eve I try to visit a church, if I am in Mumbai its usually either St Mary's or Don Bosco Church and this year being in New York, how could I not visit St Patrick's Cathedral!

There are two more places that I could not visit but are definitely worth checking out. One of them is Rolf's German Restaurant which is the talk of the town because of its sparkly and dazzling Christmas decor and the NYC Winter Lantern Festival in Staten Island till January 6th, 2019.

With this, I am wrapping up 2018 and looking forward to 2019 as a year to make things happen! I would love to hear about your holiday season!

Happy Holidays and Happy 2019!
