Camping in the Woods

Oh yes, finally I am writing about this! I took this trip in Summer during my birthday weekend but I guess it's never too late😜. Greenfield State Park is tucked away in this 400-acre park in the southwest corner of the Granite State and features ponds, bogs, and a forest that extends to the shore of undeveloped Otter Lake. Here is the link for making reservations

If you are planning a two day weekend, it is best to reach the Park in the morning itself of the first day. Greenfield is around 2-2.5 hours drive from Boston. We purchased the tent from Walmart and it had pretty clear instructions for setting up the tent. It is definitely going to take some intense efforts! Another option is booking a cabin, if you want to avoid setting up the tent.

There are a total of 252 camping sites available in the Greenfield State park. There are a good number of restrooms too at convenient distances from of all the camp sites. The campsite we booked was near the Otter Lake. The park authorities provide wood for bonfire. There are many natures' trails around the camp sites.

There are various activities like bike riding, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, fishing and playgrounds available. The admission fee for an adult is $4. The campground reservation is around $25. Parking space is available too.

Taking a dip in the Otter Lake at the golden hour is just amazing! The orange sunset visible from between the trees will definitely make you feel a lot connected to the nature.

Waking up the the sound of birds chirping and sun rays, instead of the routine alarm clock that you keep snoozing, is something you would definitely love to do while spending a night in the woods. The sunrise view over the Otter lake is very calming and peaceful, with barely anyone around, it felt more like a private beach!

Spending the night with friends in a tent, playing music and dancing around the bonfire, below a sky full of twinkling stars, is definitely something to experience and memories to always cherish!
